The landscape, modern

Kenneth Pietrobono's Selections from the Modern Landscape, part of EAF 13 at Socrates Sculpture Park, riffs on the shifting economic, political, and social "landscape," renaming 90 plant species throughout the park "to reflect the competing elements that shape our surroundings." The result is an interesting take on how to make the familiar new again.

Inside the yellow megaphone

A new sculpture, a giant red-and-yellow wooden megaphone, is up at Socrates Sculpture Park. New pieces are still being installed, and I couldn't find a sign indicating the artist behind the work, but it's great fun: you can stick your head in the sculpture and sing out to the East River, as I saw several people do today.

Trees trapped, trees unleashed

Two views from last weekend: a piece going up at Socrates Sculpture Park, trapping a cluster of trees, and branches in shadow on a Northern Boulevard building and snaking out into the sky.
