New installations have been going up along Park Avenue; a series of Alice Aycock pieces are planted in the median. Apparently inspired by extreme weather events -- cyclones, tornadoes -- the works are a breath of fresh air; below, a detail from one sculpture.

Inside the yellow megaphone
A new sculpture, a giant red-and-yellow wooden megaphone, is up at Socrates Sculpture Park. New pieces are still being installed, and I couldn't find a sign indicating the artist behind the work, but it's great fun: you can stick your head in the sculpture and sing out to the East River, as I saw several people do today.
Give him a hand
Just a glimpse of a Tom Otterness sculpture in the river, off Roosevelt Island; the cartoonish hand is eerie, isn't it?
