What's that you say? More snow tomorrow? Bracing for it ...

Astoria panoramas
Two views of Queens down by the water: a panorama of Socrates Sculpture Park, and a view of the Hallets Cove boat launch adjacent to the park.
Recent street art roundup
From Astoria to Greenpoint to Midtown Manhattan, a few snapshots of street art -- I thought the "You're too needy" stickers slapped over earlier "Love me" ones were rather clever.
Face time
Three faces of the street art of Western Queens: selections from Astoria and Long Island City.
The eyes have it
Across the street from Socrates Sculpture Park, a piece of street art was being painted over, replaced by a new mural. A few feet from a ladder, a bucket, and several cans of spray paint, one relic of the past remained: two cartoonish eyes, watching over Vernon Boulevard.
Early onset summer?
The heat blazed all weekend. Under the train tracks, you could catch a bit of shade, respite from the beating sun.
Blue building, blue sky
Up past Steinway, on 31st Avenue, we happened upon this blue building, lovely in its own way in the fading afternoon sun.
Unfocused
I took a short walk in the snow, finding lights against the fat wet flakes.
Snow against the streetlight
Nemo is here.
The empty pool
We went walking through Astoria Park this weekend; in summer, the historic pool is teeming with people, but in winter, it's a peaceful respite from the city.
Blessed birdseed
The inflatable Buddha (Floating Echo) may be getting more mainstream attention. But for my money, one of the most interesting pieces at the Emerging Artist Fellowship 2012 exhibit at Socrates Sculpture Park is Feed by Fernando Mastrangelo. Head down by the water to see the Virgin Mary cast in seed -- and it might not be a bad idea to go now, before the birds pick the rest of her away.
Finally fall
Yes, it's that time of year again, and it seems word has gotten out: a raucous display of seasonal fruits and vegetables exploded onto Broadway in Astoria practically overnight.
