Tickled to have 3 pieces of analog collage in the latest issue of Subjectiv Journal, for fall 2022. This lovely publication showcases visual and literary art from the Pacific Northwest! You can download a PDF of the full issue here, or read it online on Issuu. You’re in for a treat, whichever way you go!
National Collage Society 38th Annual Juried Show
I joined the National Collage Society this year, and was pleased to be selected for their annual juried show. My piece, “words fail,” is shown below — and you can see all 70 pieces in the online exhibit here! You can also see it in person at Coburn Art Gallery in Ashland, Ohio. Congrats to all the talented artists; I’m humbled and honored to show with you.
12x12x12: A Celebration of Community
I have a piece up in 12x12x12: A Celebration of Community, on view at ARTSpace Gallery in Lake Oswego, Oregon, through October 28 (gallery hours 10a-5p, Tuesday through Friday). Check it out — there are more than 60 artists featured, and it’s a wonderful collection!
Wallowa Valley Festival of the Arts
Some of my collage work made it into the 40th annual Wallowa Valley Festival of the Arts. Held at the Josephy Center in Joseph, Oregon, in scenic Wallowa Valley, there was a ton of wonderful art — and mountain scenery — to take in. Kudos to all the exhibiting artists!
"The Canary Ate the Cat" at Folx Gallery
Pleased to have a piece in Folx Gallery’s new show, “The Canary Ate the Cat,” a virtual exhibit up now. This monochromatic show focuses on the evocative power of yellow, a color I’m drawn to time and again.
#COLLAGENOW up through Sept 30
Pleased to be a part of the #COLLAGENOW 2022 show from Denise Bibro Fine Art. The virtual exhibit is up through the end of September, and there’s a tremendous amount of talent for you to peruse. Check it out on Artsy, or see my 4 pieces below.
Minimally prepared
I’ve been experimenting with minimalism and negative space in some of my more recent collages. This one, “Getting ready,” is affixed to an index card as substrate.
Recent collages, for ICAD2022
As mentioned in the previous post, I’ve been doing a creative challenge since June 1, which has been a nice way to pass some time. Daisy Yellow Art does something called Index Card a Day, where — you guessed it — you make one piece on an index card each day. Beyond that, there aren’t too many constraints, although there are some suggestions for themes, as well as daily prompts, if that’s your sort of thing. Here’s a small sampling from my first month participating; still plenty of time to play along if you’d like!
What’s that you say?
I’ve been doing a creative exercise this month, making at least 1 analog collage a day on an index card as substrate. It’s great fun, convened by Daisy Yellow Art, and running under the moniker Index Card a Day. I made this 4-card series from a single page from a 1930s Life magazine, plus glue and scraps from my jumble drawer.
The eye of the beholder
Delighted to have been awarded second place in a national competition from the Regional Center for Women in the Arts. Check out more about the organization’s work to learn how you can support it here.
Paper Cuts 2
The fabulous Pacific Northwest Collage Collective hosted Paper Cuts 2 in Wenatchee, Washington, at Collapse Gallery this spring. I was tickled to have a piece in it, and to spend creative time with a wonderful group of people.
Where the heart is
I was also honored to have two pieces in Lunaria Gallery’s “Home is Where the HeART Is” show in January 2022. If you’ve never visited, Lunaria is in Silverton, OR, and is a lovely space right downtown.
