Turns out he was in Vancouver, Washington, all along.
So very Seattle
Graffiti on Pine Street.
Merry and bright
Seasons greetings from downtown Seattle, where the street lights shine admirably on the rain-slicked sidewalks.
Fog on the water
At Seward Park, a misty morning made for a picturesque walk.
On the trail
Took a short walk on the Licorice Fern Trail last Saturday; there was a bit of frost on the ground, but the sun was shining brightly for a perfect fall day.
Piping hot
Diner tea, for a solid cup.
The leaves on the trees are falling
And they're beautiful. (From Lime Kiln Trail.)
Fun at the fair
Headed down to the Washington State Fair yesterday: a somewhat frenetic scene, with crowds thronging the livestock competitions, cluttering the hobby hall, and clogging the midway. Amid the many attractions, I was entranced by these disquieting murals, which ostensibly aimed to lure visitors to the roller coaster. Have an elephant ear, then strap yourself in for a ride!
At the book sale
Saturday morning, Magnuson Park, the book-loving hoards emerge. The sale, which benefits the Friends of the Seattle Public Library, is on through Monday.
On our way
Long weekends are for open roads, and heading east through Washington, bound for Idaho, makes for pretty scenery.
Flowers and valleys
The view from the Iron Goat Trail, a nice and easy hike about an hour and a half from Seattle.
A quick hike
Tried out the Naches Peak Loop trail today; beautiful views on the 3.5-mile walk. It wasn't as crowded as expected, but later in the summer, when the wildflowers are in full bloom and the last of the snow has melted, there's probably a little less solitude.
