The holidays are fast approaching; a lone tree on 57th Street heralds their arrival.
Two views of a sunrise
Returning home after a weekend trip, I caught the breaths of a sunrise near St. Michael's Cemetery in Queens.
Light through the leaves
The leaves have yellowed; soon they will begin to fall. (Photo from Sonora, California.)
Fall in Astoria
The leaves are turning green to red; on the streets, we rush to the deli, to the subway, to somewhere else.
One way or another
People in New York, in street art or on the sidewalk, studiously avoid your gaze as you pass.
Happy Diwali!
We lit a few lamps, ate sweets ... a good day.
Your smile is nice
A lovely little project on the corner of 36th Avenue and 31st Street in Astoria: compliments, up for grabs. Like your shoes! Your hair is nice!
Streets of Sunnyside
Two black-and-whites from a bit of wandering between Astoria and Sunnyside; these are somewhere in the vicinity of Queens Boulevard, 43rd Avenue, and 35th and 36th Streets.
Morning light through the branches
In Rainey Park, the sun looked about to burst from behind the branches.
At the drive-in
We headed to the Empire Drive-In, a pop-up movie theatre/large-scale sculpture at the New York Hall of Science, on Saturday night, for a "Teenage Wasteland" themed double feature. A few snapshots from the cool scene; programs continue through October 20.
Looking up
The Roosevelt Island tram and Queensboro Bridge are nicely silhouetted against the October sky.
Astoria panoramas
Two views of Queens down by the water: a panorama of Socrates Sculpture Park, and a view of the Hallets Cove boat launch adjacent to the park.
