While we were out near Hood River, we also stopped at Tom McCall Preserve. Many talk about its beauty while the wildflowers are in bloom (May, generally), but I loved the dry yellow against the lush greens of the surrounds.

On a bright and lovely end-of-winter day, we took a quick trek on the Old Salmon River Trail. Beautiful old growth, a rushing river, trees covered in moss ... what more could you ask for?
