The joys of old books

In a bit of research for this year's NaNoWriMo effort, I stumbled across a lovely engraving from the old West in Crofutt's Trans-continental Tourist, an 1874 guide to crossing to California. The book's travel tips (for example, "Do not seek to attract attention: only boors are intrusive and boisterous") are also little gems.
